The bean curd made in Chodang village is soft and delicious because the villagers use natural seawater instead of brine to solidify the bean juice. The villagers insist on the traditional method of making bean curd and use domestic beans produced in the local area. Chodang bean curd is the tourists' favorite food in Gangneung.

At the region where a North Korean submarine infiltrated in 1996, the North Korean submarine, a warship out of commission and fighters are displayed. By visiting the park visitors are reminded of the importance of the national security and the will to unification.

Jeongdongjin Sandglass Park was established by Gangneung city and Samsung Electronics in 1999 to commemorate the new millenium. The sandglass in the park is the world's largest. It is 8.06m in diameter, 3.20m wide, 40t in weight, 8t in sand weight. The round shape symbolizes the eternity of time. The sandglass is not to measure the hour like the ordinary clock but to meaure the passage of time. It takes a year for all the sand in the clock to fall. The sandglass event takes place in the midnight of December 31st every year.
